Though I welcome challenge, change, and new adventures, I am uncomfortable when faced with the unexpected or the unknown. I am more cautious, anxious, and reserved than FEARLESS. So, when an exciting opportunity to chase my dream of becoming a school administrator presented itself unexpectedly late in the summer, I nervously applied for the position... hoping that I was the right fit for the school and praying that leaving the comfort of my instructional technologist position in my home district was the right decision. Change can be scary.
Six weeks later, I am LOVING my new position as assistant principal at R.C. Edwards Middle School! Though I miss my precious friends and colleagues from Anderson One, I am fortunate that the teachers at RCE have been welcoming and enthusiastic. Though I still have much to learn about my new school, I feel like I am already having an impact and making a difference for my students. Though the past few weeks have been a whirlwind, I am blessed to be surrounded by an incredible faculty and staff to inspire me and help me continue to grow in the years ahead. I am happy to be part of a team that puts service above self, and we have had a great start already.
Reflecting on this experience, leaping out into the great unknown can be terrifying; however, when you follow your passion and keep the faith, you truly have nothing to fear. Looking forward to the amazing school year ahead... #rookieAP #teamRCE #befearless
